This was taken on a hot summer day, at the barn where we boarded Dakota and Denali. There were maybe 20 horses all congregated by the barn back gate, just hanging out in the heat and shade. I must have spent an hour photographing everything and everyone I could, since they were so still and relaxed from the heat. At some point, Dakota looked down, and his ears turned straight, and I just knew I had a good shot. I love this photo and have digitized it in several different ways, as well as offering it in black & white.
